The other night I had a dream of a ceiling lamp, a mini one, or actually of making one. The dream was so detailed that it was almost like watching a how-to -tutorial. After getting such detailed instructions one surely has to make the lamp. I tried to take photos of the phases of making the lamp in case someone else wants to make one too:
First, I cut circles of a silver patterned left-over wall paper with a round punch cutter - this is, of course, can be done with scissors, but slower. My cutter is 2.5 cm in diameter. Circles can, of course, be cut from any type of paper, depending on the color of the lamp you want. I wanted a subtle, but not totally white. Circles are folded in half. If you are using patterned paper, fold the pattern side facing inwards.
Next, cut a strip of paper (this is just the standard one-color paper) of the same width as the diameter of the circles cut before. Clue the strip of paper into a circle and it around a round object of a suitable thickness so that it is easier to glue the circles on it. I used a glue stick. Next, glue the circles from the fold lines to the strip of paper one at a time approx. 5 mm from each other. Here you should use a rather quick-drying glue, so that the they wont start sliding from their places while glueing the next ones.
The light did not shine through the paper well enough, so I decided to punch small holes in the base paper in the end. Finally the lamp was attached in the middle with some wire.
Here's how it turned out:
